Seventh Stop of Culture Nights was Sakarya!

Friendship Truck continues to bring together Turkish Summer School students with people. Friendship Truck travelling from city to city as a part of the Turkish Summer School Culture Nights stopped in Sakarya after programs in Samsun, Ankara, Denizli, İzmir, Çanakkale and Bursa.

Program organised with the contributions of Governor and Mayor of Sakarya started as the Yunus Emre Institute’s students who have been receiving language training at Sakarya University’s TÖMER and participating various cultural activities, welcomed the Friendship Truck at the Sakarya City Square. Local people of Sakarya who filled up the square gave a very warm welcome to the students. Since the event coincided with the anniversary of August 17 Earthquake, each student has first greeted the people of Sakarya and expressed their condolences. After the very emotional and moving welcoming ceremony, the crowd moved to the Sakarya Ofis Art Centre for the program titled Culture Nights.

Following the dinner held at 8 P.M., Culture Nights commenced with the opening speeches by Sakarya Governor Hüseyin Avni COŞ, Yunus Emre Institute’s Director Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş and Sakarya University Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas. After the screening of short films on Turkish Summer School’s Culture Nights programme, the most exciting part of the evening, “I Compete in Turkish” competition started.

Turkish Summer School students Nino Tsintsadze, Tamari Guchmazashvili, Khatia Muradasvili, Mariam Khabuliani, Elnara Mamedova were the contestants of the “I Compete in Turkish” and all enjoyed the competition. After winners were presented with their awards, the event continued with various activities and many gifts were handed to the guests. The event ended late at night after a family photo shoot.
